For the past few years we have started going camping over father's day weekend and we absolutely love it. This year was just the same, we all (everyone but Jaime) hooked up and headed to the mountains Thursday morning ready for a weekend full of fishing, relaxing, bike riding and lots of food. We were able to accomplish all of these goals, I always love being able to accomplish goals!! Because we were missing Father's day at church, the father's that were with us would be missing out on cinnamon rolls, so Aunt Connie decided we should try to make some in the dutch ovens for them. We decided on Thursday to try it out and see how it went.So we (mostly Aunt Connie) went to work preparing the cinnamon roll dough, it took awhile to do because it was cold in the mountains and well it took some time for the dough to rise, but when it did we got it all ready and started cooking. We were really happy with the way they turned out, they were yummy. It was then decided that we would have to do another batch so that I could learn how to make the dough so maybe if I felt nice I could make them for my family. We spent the rest of the day fishing and relaxing and trying to stay warm, it was pretty cold up there the first day.

Friday was a new day and it was a nice day, after breakfast I took the kids for a bike ride (Jaime had to work so he was driving up after work to join us) I had planned to take them on a trail Kylee and I had done a few years ago. So we headed off and just as we were really going pretty good the road stopped. It looked like a landslide had come through, but as we were checking it out to see if we could push our bikes over it and reach the road on the other side, we noticed it just kept going so we figured that they must have purposely blocked it off. While getting to this point we had passed 2 new atv trails that we had never been on, so we decided to try one of them out, it was pretty steep going down and it ended up meeting up with a trail that the kids like to ride on everytime we go camping. It was a fun little ride, Brooke even learned to ride her bike over a cattle guard on this ride, she was really nervous, but was very proud of herself after she finally did it. When we got back to camp Grandpa had set up his badmitton set so we spent a couple hours playing badmitton. After playing for awhile I decided to take a break and go fishing, so we all went fishing. We didn't catch to many keepers, but we were able to catch a bunch of little ones, they were fun to catch! Jaime got to camp around 3 and decided to take some time to go fishing while we got dinner going. For dinner we had decided to have parmesan chicken in the dutch oven, I had tried this recipe out earlier in the week and we decided we liked it enough to have it at camp. It turned out better at camp than it did at home.

Saturday we got up and tried some more new stuff in the dutch oven, we made some bisquick biscuits in the dutch oven and had biscuits and gravy for breakfast, it was really good!! Then our family took off on another bike ride. We took off on another trail and this one really gave us a workout, but was a lot of fun. We had to push our bikes up a hill and that really took some work, but riding downhill really made it worth it. We ended up riding for about 4.7 miles, it was tough, but was fun and we found another trail we want to ride on next time we go. We tried fishing again after this, but didn't do very good, so we came back to rest and for me it was time to learn to make cinnamon rolls. So I followed the instructions Aunt Connie gave and with her help I was able to get it done!! For dinner I made enchilladas in the dutch oven and they were also better camping than they were at home.

Sadly we had to come home on Sunday, we would have loved to stay longer, but as always we have to come home. We had a great trip and we are ready to go back, but sadly because we are so busy with other things that we don't get to go again until July 17th which is a family reunion for my (Jen's) side of the family up at Anthony Lakes, the kids can't wait to go. Next week Kylee will be going on trek for the first time and we are so excited for her and the opportunity she has to go. We hope you all had a wonderful father's day!!

Looks like you had a great time. I'm glad you were able to go. Maybe Brooke will have to take baby wipes with her wherever she goes so she can stay a little cleaner!!!!! I'm excited for the July trip as well as the kids are.
