We took off at about 7:30 Saturday morning and drove about 3 hours to the trail head. We all loaded up our backpacks with snacks for the hike, water and of course stuff to trade when we found the treasure. Jaime has always told me how beautiful it is at Strawberry Lake so this is where we chose to go this year and I have to agree, it is very beautiful. The hike to the lake itself is 1.4 miles, which took us just about 45 minutes to get to, keep in mind we were hiking with kids and Brooke was not into hiking, she was having fun picking up the dirt and rocks and throwing it. So she ended up on Jaime's shoulders for most of the hike. As we were hiking Kylee told me that this was just like camping. I told her no we didn't stay the night and we don't have the trailer and she said yeah but this is what we do when we go camping so this is just like camping. Once we got to the lake we found the treasure we were after and then we were able to take a break. Ben had picked up a bunch of rocks on the way up so he could skip them when he got to the lake so he had fun doing that, of course Jaime and I took that time to take some pictures and watch the kids.
After about 30 minutes we decided to head up to the waterfall that is up there, we had no clue how far we had to go, but I was going to get to that waterfall no matter what. As we were hiking up the trail we began seeing little streams coming off across the trail and of course Ben had to go through the water on all of them, but as we got closer we could here lots of water running. So from the lake to the waterfall it took us about another hour and we were there. It was another 1.1 miles from the lake to the waterfall, but it was so worth it. It was beautiful and the kids had so much fun.
When we were finished at the waterfall we decided it was time to head back, the kids were getting tired and Jaime was tired of carrying Brooke on his shoulders, so we didn't make it to little Strawberry this year, but we will be back to do it when Brooke gets a little bigger. After we got back we had a little picnic at the campground and then loaded up to head home. Now we couldn't just drive straight home we stopped for a few caches along the way. Just outside of Prairie City we saw this really neat wagon so we had to stop for some pictures and then there was another cache along the way that had a trail you walked down and it told of the old railroad that came through that area, well as you got the bottom of the trail there were still the train tracks. Ben and Kylee thought they were really neat and had fun playing on them, we didn't find the cache at this spot, but we really enjoyed learning more about the area.
We got home around 7:00 Saturday night and we were tired, but we had a great time exploring places we had never been to and I can't wait to go again.
So this is how our Saturday went,we were gone 12.5 hours, we did a 5 mile hike, found 5 geocaches, went through 3 different counties and all in 1 state!!!

Looks like it was a great place to go. It is all hiking to get to the lake or is there another way to see it? Glad you got to go.
I'm sure we would go with you when you go again...as long as it is nothing like Blue Lake.
Yes it is all hiking to get there, they don't even allow strollers on the trail.
And it is nothing like blue lake, it is a nice trail the whole way.
I need to go with you all sometime! It looks like so much fun!
