We were invited to go to Utah over the 4th this year to celebrate my Grandpa's 80th birthday. We decided to go down a day early and spend some time with my family. It was so much fun, the kids got to ride horses for the first time and now they want to move down and live with my uncle so they can ride all the time.
The boys went to a car show on Friday and Ben is still talking about all the cars they saw and he keeps telling me he wants this car.
They also got to just play with their cousins that they only see a couple times a year.
To celebrate my grandpa's birthday we had a big potluck dinner that consisted of BBQ chicken cooked in the dutch oven and dutch oven potatoes and then fruit salad, pasta salad and much more food. It was all wonderful. Then after we ate they invited other people over for an open house and it was really nice to see some of my aunts and uncles that I haven't seen for years.
After dinner the kids wanted to play a football game. It was fun to watch the teams were the young kids against all the old married men!! It was fun to watch and see the difference in how they play, but in the end the old married men won. I'm always amazed at how the old people seem to beat the young ones when they play games, but maybe the old ones are more experienced.
Later that evening we did fireworks and this is the first year that Brooke has really gotten into it, she liked to watch the bright ones, but when the loud ones went off she was running to someone's lap. It was fun to watch her.
We always have a great time when we go visit our family, but we are always glad to come home. We had a great trip and can't wait until our family gets to come up here and do all the black Friday shopping!!

I think the "old" guys always win because they are always more relaxed. I just remember always being tense during school games, and after school for some reason I could relax and have more fun.
